Watch for Li'l Miss Camille at the Thoroughbred makeover
This year, Equine Paths is honored to support Lil Miss Camille, our 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover entry. After her racing career, Camille was responsibly rehomed and eventually found her way to Equine Paths. Today, she is trained by Jennifer Vickers Kelley and partnered with her young companion in the Youth Division of the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover. Together, they represent the power of partnership, perseverance, and second chances.
The Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) Thoroughbred Makeover plays a vital role in the Thoroughbred industry by showcasing the athleticism, versatility, and trainability of Thoroughbreds after their racing careers end. The Makeover promotes responsible aftercare while demonstrating the many opportunities available to off-track Thoroughbreds in their second careers. Learn more at therrp.org.
Equine Paths is proud to support this mission. In 2025, Equine Paths sponsored the training, care, and competition of De Last Dance ("Tango"), who was trained and shown by Jennifer Kelley at the Thoroughbred Makeover. Tango's story is a powerful reminder of why aftercare matters. Despite an excellent racing career and producing one foal, she was not responsibly rehomed and ultimately found herself in a livestock pen in Louisiana. Through Jennifer's patient training and exceptional care, Tango flourished, proving that every horse deserves the opportunity to succeed beyond the racetrack.
The stories of Tango and Camille demonstrate that a Thoroughbred's value does not end when racing does. Through responsible aftercare, thoughtful training, and meaningful human connections, these remarkable mares have found new careers, new purposes, and lasting partnerships. Whether rescued from uncertain circumstances or responsibly transitioned into a new home, both horses have thrived because someone invested in their future.
The 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium will take place October 7-10, 2026, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.
